Merc Vs. Bollards

The photo above shows a Mercedes-Benz crush by the automated bollards on Cross Street in Manchester. This stretch of road is between Manchester Arndale and the Royal Exchange. So when it comes to Mercedes-Benz verses the bollards. The Bollards wins OK?! haha... PROVEN!!!

I wonder who should bare the cost of this accident. I think this will be a though one to call. The impact of the accident is from the underneath, and there are signs before the bollards that explains its operational times. So I wonder will the insurance company cover this? Or should the city council bare it? The car looks very new, in fact I think it is one of Mercedes-Benz latest design, but its stead suggest it is ready for scraping. My guess is the owner has to bare it all. What is yours?

Alex: The old axiom of an immovable object, what happens, major damage.
BTW: Loved your comments on the President photos.

Wow, I would be very sad if that merc is mine. I guess the insurance people pay for the damage. I have new photos for Henderson Waves, it is the latest attraction that was opened recently.

Oh that's really difficult to see. I think the driver's insurance has to take care of this. That's what you pay the insurance for isn't it when accidents like this happen.

Thanks for the visit.

I have once crashed in a parking lot with somebody who had a brand new car and it was not my fault. It was only a very minor bump in the car but the owner´s face was so full of anger after that. I can only imagine the Merc driver´s face here. Nobody else to blame except himself.

oh, poor benz! shall i say poor driver too?! hope the insurance will pay for this. i can only imagine how the driver feels.
syel    Tue, 28 Jul 2009 21:37:59 +0800
Why should anyone else than the owner pay?

Interesting mishap. Those thingies seem to work better than I'd expect.

Ouch!! That hurts!! Definitely the owner's insurance company ;D
shionge    Wed, 29 Jul 2009 01:32:55 +0800
Fishing Guy: That's correct. I do not know what is up with the driver.

Alicesg: I'm not quite sure if insurance cover this. I'm not even convince that it is an accident. Anyway, it's sad isn't it. I will pop by your blog later. Cheers!

Photo Cache: It is automated, that means when it is not operational it will retract into the ground. I guess the driver was trying to fool the system by following an authorise vehicle closely behind. Silly.

chrome3d: I could not work out who was the drive around the scene. I bet it will be very disappointed with himself/herself.

syel: Haha... That's a good one. I think the driver must feel like rubbish.

Per Stromsjo: That's my guess too. Yes! Surprisingly from my second photo, the thingies looks firmly intact. That is really something solid!

shionge: Yes looking at it hurts me too.

Trotter: Oh yes. Good planning. Yups, that guy will think twice next time. haha...

SandyCarlson: I think it must quite fast, if the driver is trying to sneak behind some authorised vehicles.

vaggelis vlahos: Yes!

Mo: Haha... Looks like there are some dare devils in Manchester.

Alexander    Sun, 02 Aug 2009 02:50:49 +0800
It is due to carelessness of car owner. He has to bear the damages
daisy    Sun, 02 Aug 2009 16:02:25 +0800
How sad... Looks pretty bad.
It would suck if the owner has to bear all the costs.
