Swine Dynasty

The recent invasion by the Swine army into many countries have successfully brought fears to many of us. So actually how prepared are we?

In a recent news conference report by the BBC, the Mexican health minister said the the epicentre of the world outbreak, has peaked. However many reports still claim that the number of people contacting the Swine flu has been steadily increasing. So what precautions have you been taking? Do you think these precautions do help? Do you think you are doing enough to play a part in containing this pandemic?

For those of you who are very worried about it, there are more comforting news. More help is on the way as Virologists in the UK has begun investigations to understand how the swine flu could mutate to become more deadly. This type of work is crucial as they contribute to develop effective vaccines, but it is a race against time, so are we ahead of the game?

Alex, same thing as the SARS. It brought fears to the whole nation. School were closed and malls were empty and poor business for the restaurants, shopping malls, taxi drivers, etc.

We quarantined ourselves volunteerly as much as possible, taking our temperature daily. Am glad SARS is over but now with the new flu, we are back to orange alert.

Doctors and nurses in hospitals and even in the clinics are putting their masks back on. Schools are still open as there are no cases over "yet". Keeping my fingers crossed. Please take care Alex.

Alex: I actually think this whole swine flu is overblown. There are more people who die from the regular flu each year.

I hope everyone is well and healthy.

alicesg: Good to know that they are doing so much. I hope the situation will be contained, and everything will be back to normal soon. Thank you

Fred the Mole: haha... I think the sexy nurses will be the ultimate vaccine. lol

Fishing Guy: I think you have brought up a very important point here. Yes I do agree that more people die from regular flu each year than the swine flu. I feel that it is over hyped; that's why I started to blog about it, and I am glad that you have brought up this issue. I not saying it is not critical, but I think it has gone too over board.

Most of the time, those of us in the wealthy and healthy corners of the planet are slightly ahead so we should pay attention not only to protecting ourselves but to those less fortunate.

Since I have lived through SARS despite travelling through Singapore to the UK during its height, I believe that sensible people will be able to avoid it.

Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Come back tomorrow for a new series!

Same as Joy, I lived through SARS outbreak. I was working in Guangzhou, China, the city where SARS first started. It was the Chinese New Year of 2003 when we heard so much about the flu that can bring death and frantically searched for news about it on the net but there wasn't any in the formal media!

It's another overhyped incident, especially where China is concerned!

But I hope there would be less casualties and the vaccine would be found soon.

Btw, the new blog layout is gorgeous! I thought you have stopped blogging. Welcome back to blogging!

Per Stromsjo: Well made a point here; prevention is better than cure!

joy: Ya, you are right too. Avoidance is another form of prevention

JC: Thanks. Yes I am back blogging. About the Swine flu, ya I know what you meant. It was sort of a scare isn't it.

joy, JC and Alicesg: You all reminded me of my national service time. My initial part of it was during the SARS outbreak. haha... was activated because of it...

Anyway to conclude this topic on Swine flu, some of us feels that it was overblown. However, I think we all would agree that all this over hyped thing is for the good intention of awareness, and prevention. Thus prevention is better than cure!

If you still have any views on this, please send them in.
